Ana Gomes' breast cancer is currently in remission. However, she is not at peace. The disease has already killed four of her relatives, and almost every week she hears news of friends or acquaintances that have been diagnosed. She lives in one of Portugal's most contaminated places, near the Lajes Airfield, in Terceira island, Azores, 100 meters from the largest fuel reservoir outside US territory.

Confidential reports that have recently come to light prove for the first time that there is a heavy metal pollution problem and a higher cancer risk in some areas of Terceira island.
